My Flirtation With Modern Technology: AresConnect

I’m not the most technologically advanced person. In fact I’m probably not in the most technically advanced person in the room (and there is only me and my three-year-old son here). So when I found out about AresConnect and introduced my (very technologically advanced) 16-year-old son to, he was a little shocked to say the least.

My son likes to share files, music files using the Ares filesharing software to be exact. He showed me how to do this and it’s something I’ve enjoyed last two months: I really enjoy the fact that I can build up a diverse eclectic mix of music for free.

Anyway, lately, connections to the Ares network have been more and more difficult to get consistently. Sometimes it will take five minutes to connect, other times 10. Occasionally it will take four or five HOURS to get through. My son was having the same problems, and it appears that many people using the Ares network were suffering the same pain.

I decided to do some research on my own: this couldn’t go on, and there have to be an answer.

Indeed there was an answer. It came in the form of the aforementioned AresConnect. As I sat down to my research, I started to see a few reviews of this application, and it seemed to do exactly what I wanted. I downloaded and installed Ares onnect, I was connected within minutes.

How does it work? I have no idea. That’s the honest truth. What I do know is that it does work, and that AresConnect has made my enjoyment of filesharing so much greater.

And the best thing? My son just doesn’t know what to do with himself now that his mother has told how to fix his file sharing app! Oh the horror!
